876,155. Educational appliances. ASHBROOK, M., and ASHBROOK, P. C. Nov. 17, 1959 [Aug. 20, 1958], No. 26734/58. Class 146(2). An educational appliance for teaching multiplication comprises a board a divided into rows and columns of compartments b which contain in predetermined sequence the products of row and column identifying digits e f. As shown the products are shown reversed and the row digits are displaced upwards by one compartment for use with indicator cards g bearing indicating marks i j and arranged to frame the compartments showing the products of the identifying digits e f appropriate to the compartment dividing lines at the intersection of which the corner r of the card g is placed. The product of the multiplication is then calculated by adding the digits appropriate to the various marks i j which indicate units, tens, hundreds &c. The various additions can be recorded on a peg recording board. Guide discs may be placed over the identifying digits of the problem to be solved which may be selected by use of a set of problem cards.
