Abstract

N - Formyl derivatives of primary and secondary amines, hydroxyamines and polyamines are prepared by reacting said amines with formamide, monoalkylformamides or di-alkylformamides in the presence of water. Mono-and dimethylformamide, N:N1-di-formylethylenediamine and formylethanolamine are so prepared.
