Abstract

875,245. Waveguide windows. COMPAGNIE FRANCAISE THOMSON-HOUSTON. June 4, 1959 [June 4, 1958], No. 19172/59. Class 40(8) An airtight window between two waveguide sections comprises an insulating plate of material transparent to radiation which is secured between flanges terminating the waveguide sections and has its faces metallized over at least those portions which are in contact with the flanges. In the construction shown a plurality of holes 2 enable the window 1 to be clamped between waveguide flanges. Each face has a metallic deposit 3 which may be sprayed zinc. The coatings terminate at lines 4 corresponding to the inner faces of the broad walls of the waveguides, but are extended beyond the inner faces of the narrow walls in strips 5 and 6 to provide a matching iris. The coatings on the two surfaces of the window are connected together by spraying the edges of the window and the internal surfaces of the holes 2. The latter surfaces may be protected by a coating of varnish.
