Abstract

874,293. Electric selective signalling systems. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Nov. 18, 1959 [Nov. 25, 1958], No. 37981/58. Class 40 (1). In a digitally controlled servo-system data from a keyboard or a record card is entered into a shift register 5 having certain of its highest denominational stages connected to a recoding circuit 11 as described in Specification 821,187 which produces voltages corresponding in amplitudes to the sine and cosine of the input value. These voltages are then switched by a switch 12 to a first synchro 13 to control the coarse positioning of an output shaft. When the error voltage in the servo-loop (that is the voltage driving the motor) reaches a predetermined low level, the contents of the shift register are shifted and the sine and cosine voltages are switched to a second synchro to control the medium positioning of the output shaft, and finally when the error voltage again reaches the predetermined low level a further shift is effected and the fine positioning of the shaft is made. The servo-loops can be as described in Specification 814,617 giving an angular or a linear output movement. All the previously mentioned Specifications are referred to. Specification 764,588 also is referred to
