Abstract

874,115. Transistor switching circuits. ERICSSON TELEPHONES Ltd. May 18, 1960 [May 25, 1959], No. 17808/59. Class 40(6) A driving circuit for a square loop magnetic core, comprises a transistor VT2 having its collector connected through a driving winding 2 of a magnetic core 1 to a first terminal, its emitter connected through a resistor R2 to a second terminal, and its base connected through a resistor R1 in parallel with a diode D1 to a third terminal and a second diode D2 connected from the third terminal to the collector. Either the second or the third terminal is connected to the output of a blocking oscillator and the other two are connected to the two poles of a source of operating potential, the arrangement being such that output pulses from the blocking oscillator cause the collector of VT2 to bottom to an extent controlled by diode D2. As shown in Fig. 4, the blocking oscillator comprises a transistor VT1 with a transformer TF connected between the collector and emitter electrodes, the primary winding being shunted by a diode D3 and a resistor R6 in series. Triggering pulses are applied to terminal 15, and the oscillator output is produced in one or more tertiary windings 10 on transformer TF, each winding being connected to a separate driving circuit. The output from the winding 10 is fed on to the base of transistor VT2 to cut it on and cause current to flow through the winding 2 of core 1. Several cores may be connected to each driving circuit with their windings 2 in series. In an alternative arrangement, Fig. 6 (not shown), the input to the drive circuit is fed on to the emitter instead of the base.
