[Also in Groups XIX and XXXIX] In a full-adder (see Group XIX and Fig. 4, not shown) an apertured core, Fig. 3, having inputs 62 and an output 63 is used to produce a " carry " digit, the logical equivalent of the core being shown in Fig. 3A. A further core having four adjacent apertures is used to produce the sum." digit. An alternative arrangement for producing the carry digit by means of a core having three apertures is described (Fig. 4A, not shown) and an " exclusive or " circuit using a core having two apertures is also described (Fig. ], not shown). Specifications 854,447 and 858,338 are referred to. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 814,455.
