873,167. Electric locomotives. BACHEM, E., and DYCKERHOFF, K. B., [trading as RUHRTHALER MASCHINENFABRIK SCHWARZ & DICKERHOFF KOMM.- GES.]. March 24, 1960, No. 10514/60. Class 79(3). To increase the angle of vision B from the driver's cab of a battery driven locomotive for use in mines the top edges of the cells furthest from the cab are at a lower level than those nearest to the cab. Some or all of the cells may be stepped singly or in groups and the invention may be applied to locomotives with a central cab, the batteries being arranged either on both sides of the cab or on only one side with the motor and gearing on the other. The battery case may have a stepped top when the cells are mounted on a stepped base or have different heights.
