Abstract

872,967. Liquid fuel burners. WEBASTOWERK G.m.b.H. Feb. 10, 1960 [Feb. 27, 1959], No. 4692/60. Class 75(1). [Also in Group XXXVI] A vapour burner comprises an electromagnetic fuel valve (not shown) energized by a thermocouple located inside the burner casing 9 and provided with an apertured tubular screen 14 which directs a cooling current of combustion air on to the cold joint of the thermocouple. The hot joint 12 is disposed outside the screen 14 in the burner flame. The screen 14 is secured to the body of the thermocouple by a nut 15. The thermocouple comprises a constantan wire placed within a tubular element and soldered thereto at one end; the other end of the wire is soldered to an insulated copper wire leading through a copper tube to the electromagnetic fuel valve. The burner comprises an annular vaporizing chamber 5, two vapour discharge nozzles 1 and a slidably-mounted tubular flame guide 17 which has an aperture 20 near the hot joint 12 of the thermocouple and has a tongue 21 interrupting its open front end. At starting the electromagnetic valve is opened by a press button and fuel flows from the nozzles 1 on to the base of the burner casing 9. This fuel is then ignited and heats the vaporizer 5. The electromagnet when energized holds the fuel valve open.
