Abstract

872,681. Electric lamps. RITTER CO. Inc. Jan. 14, 1959 [Feb. 5, 1958], No. 1405/59. Classes 75(2) and 75(4). An operating light comprises a housing having a reflector 27 mounted therein and a light source 23 mounted in the housing between the reflector and a lens assembly which comprises at least two-light transmitting members, lenses 37, 38 constituting a lens unit the peripheral margin of the members being resiliently mounted and sealed in spaced relation in a casing to provide a dead air space between the light transmitting members. The lenses are retained in grooves in a resilient sealing member 41 which is retained in a front recess 33 in a lens casing 12 and by rear clips 56 with tabs. A grid comprising louvres 46, tilted by oppositely disposed dimples 50, 51 engaging in slots 47 in the sealing member, directs the line of light. A bridge 61 interconnecting two lenses 38 has bosses to which a light shield 63 attaches. The casing 12 hinges at the bottom and latches at the top. The housing 11 pivots on horizontal and vertical pivots and has side handles. The surface of the lens 38 may have flutes and the lens 37 may not be of optical glass. Side clamps support the reflector which rests against resilient pads. Air circulates from an opening 96 around the lower hinge to slots in the top wall of the casing.
