Abstract
872,225. Metal drawing dies. DANITE HARD METALS Ltd. Oct. 29, 1959 [Oct. 30, 1958], No. 34892/58.. Classes 83 (2) and 83 (4). A wire drawing die assembly comprises a holder 10 which has a small bore 13, a large bore 12 and a counterbore 15, and a die pellet 17, which is positioned on the seat 14 and secured by hot forging the coned end 11 to produce a shoulder 22. The male forging die 21 has a projection 23 which keeps the entry cone 18 clear. Radial holes 25 for cooling fluid are subsequently drilled into the counterbore 15, a fluid-tight joint between the pellet and the holder is ensured by using a metal which has a large co-efficient of expansion for the holder and a material which has a small co-efficient of expansion for the pellet. In a modification, Fig. 7, the seat 14 is omitted and a conical pellet 17, which seats in a conical bore 26 is used.
