Abstract

871,685. Tablet dispensers. CZETTEL, R. May 12, 1959 [May 20, 1958; Jan. 30, 1959], No. 16196/59. Class 18. In a tablet dispenser tablets 4 are ejected from a stack by an ejector 8 by partly withdrawing one of a pair of inter-fitting sleeves 1, 5 surrounding the stack which is pushed back against the action of a feed spring 2 at least during the final part of each ejection, the dispensing aperture 10 being closed between ejections. In one embodiment, Fig. 2, the sleeve 5 is closed at the top, open along the bottom and one side and surrounds an open-topped sleeve 1. The ejector 8 is loaded by a spring 6 and is hinged in the sleeve 5 at 7. To dispense a tablet the sleeve 1 is pushed downwardly relative to the sleeve 5 by a button 9 and the ejector 8 pushes the tablet 4<SP>1</SP> through the aperture 10 so formed. After release the ejector 8 bears down on the stack to relieve the tablet 4<SP>1</SP> of upward pressure. When the sleeve 1 is pushed upwards the side wall thereof returns ejector 8 to its original position. Projections 12 on a member 3 engage slots 13 in the sleeve 1 to prevent the latter from being completely withdrawn from the sleeve 5. The tablets may be guided into position by a U-shaped trough 14 which is also slotted to receive the projections 12. In a modification, Fig. 7, the outer sleeve 21 is open at the top. The inner sleeve 25 has an opening in one side to form the dispensing opening 30. To dispense a tablet upward pressure is applied to an inclined face 39 to raise the sleeve 25 until an edge 38 is intercepted by an abutment 37 and a tablet 24<SP>1</SP> is ejected by a lever 28. In a further modification (not shown) the ejector lever is hinged to pivot on a vertical axis. In another modification, Fig. 11, the dispenser is of circular section and has a closure cap 60 through which it is refilled. The dispensing and refilling apertures may be arranged sideby-side so that they are opened by relative rotation between the sleeves.
