Abstract

870,443. Fish fillets; cutting off. KLOSTER, O., and KLOSTER, P. April 4, 1960, No. 11850/60. Class 28 (2). [Also in Group XXX] A headed and gutted fish laid on a bar 21 is conveyed, belly down by a pair of spiked conveyer chains 18 through pairs of knives which free the backbone and rib bones from the flesh. The fish is centred between spoons 48 and in its traverse operates a feeler 20 which releases means to allow a weight 1 to swing up a pair of disc knives 2 to slit the fish along the backbone from the end of the belly to the tail. Further traverse pushes the fish against knives 3 which slit down along each side of the backbone and also against a horizontal pair of knives 4 which free the ribs from the flesh. If the flesh fillets are not entirely freed from the bones by these cuts a further pair of knives 5 effect such release. The outgoing fillets then engage a feeler 30 which operates levers to allow a spring 49 to reset the frame 6 whereby the first knives 2 are pulled down and locked in position ready for release by the next fish. The sprockets carrying the conveyer chain 18 are turned in to close the chains against the fish tail by the upward movement of the frame 6. Pressure members 22 automatically move down to press the fish tail against the uprising cutters 2. The resilient plate 28 on which the fish rests has its front part lowered so that the fish tail is lowered on to the uprising knives 2. The conveyer chains 18 have downpointed pins 18<SP>1</SP> to press into the belly flaps and improve conveyance.
