Abstract

A liquid, used to impregnate asbestos-cement boards, (see Group VIII) may comprise the reaction product obtained by heating an alkyl-or aryl-trichlorosilane with an organic reagent capable of reacting therewith to give a product which cross-links to a polysiloxane resin on heating with or without a catalyst. The liquid has a viscosity of less than 40 Cs at 25 DEG C., and may contain a catalyst for the cross-linking reaction, e.g. iron hexoate. Suitable organic reagents are alcohols, e.g. methyl alcohol, acids, e.g. acetic acid, and salts, e.g. sodium acetate. The preferred reaction product is methyltrimethoxysilane.
