Abstract
869,853. Winding apparatus. PLOW RIGHT BROS. Ltd. Nov. 7, 1957 [Nov. 9, 1956], No. 34384/56. Class 78 (5). When a cage 4 overwinds on approaching the mine group level, its .propelling cable is.released and the cage falls on to detents 2 which are pivoted at 3 to column 1 and are kept in place by pins 19 carried by displaceable rod 20. Column 1 is resiliently supported from rigid mounting 5 by spring rings 10, 11 (not shown), bearing member 12 secured to the column being carried by a superposed set of rings supported on the rigid member. The shock of the fall of the cage is therefore lessened. After the cage has been released the detents 2 are moved out of the path of the cage by displacement of rod 20. Rigid girder 7 is connected slidingly to the column at 8 in order to guide the resilient movement of the column.
