Abstract

869,418. Protecting plants. PEARCE, G. Feb. 21, 1958 [Feb. 22, 1957], No. 6122/57. Class 6(2). [Also in Groups X and XXV]. A horticultural frame comprises two arches 1 supporting a flexible covering 6, which may be opaque or made of a fabric gauze, and springs 8 associated with the arches for tensioning the covering material. The arches are connected by longitudinal rods 2 and rods 9 connect the springs. The covering is formed in two sections each of which is held by rods 5 and 10. The rods 5 of the two sections are brought close together in the middle of the arches and engage studs 4 to be removably held in place by wing nuts 7. The rods 10 may be held in two positions by engagement with the clip 11 fixed to the rod 2. The springs 8 may be replaced by spring loaded arms pivoted to the arches and the covering may be fixed to the rods 5 and 10 by engagement in slots throughout their length or by the provision of pockets for the rods. The studs 4 may be adjustable along the arches so that the gap between the rods 5 may be varied.
