Abstract

868,445. Windscreen wipers. BIGNON, L. C. A. M. Feb. 12, 1960 [Feb. 13, 1959; May 12, 1959 ; Jan. 29, 1960], No. 5072/60. Class 138(1). To prevent movements of a windscreen wiper blade away from the windscreen by wind currents during operation of the wiper, the blade is provided with apertures 1, Fig. 1, for the passage of air therethrough. The apertures 1 may be of rectangular cross section as shown and the walls 2 separating them may be of stream-line section. In an alternative construction the apertures 1 are of gradually increasing length from one end of the blade to the other. Apertures of various other shapes are described. In the construction illustrated in Fig. 17 additional air passages are formed by the gaps 15 between lugs 14 on the rear of the wiper blade to which is secured a resilient metal supporting strip 12.
