Abstract

Cellular polyurethanes are obtained by simultaneous reaction of 100 parts an alkyd resin of acid number 0,5-75, 1 to 50 parts of a polyhydric alcohol or blend thereof and 75 to 400 parts of an arylene polyisocyanate, the water content of the alcohol and resin being 0,1 to 5 parts. Simultaneous reaction is defined and includes premixing alcohol and resin and then adding polyisocyanate. Prior to such addition the polyisocyanate may have 0,03 to 15 parts of ethyl or benzyl cellulose, natural or chlorinated natural rubber, vinylchloride-vinyl acetate copolymers, polyvinyl acetate, polystyrene, polydichlorostyrene, polymeric acrylate and methacrylate, acrylate-methacrylate copolymers, and polyvinyl butyrol incorporated. Optional ingredients are quaternary ammonium bentonites, fillers, e.g. metal leafing powders, mica dust, titania, air flow silica and silica aerogel. Lists of suitable reactants are given.ALSO:Cellular polyurethanes are obtained by simultaneous reaction of 100 parts of an alkyd resin of acid number 0,5-7,5, 1-50 parts of a polyhydric alcohol or blend thereof, and 75-400 parts of an aryline polyisocyanate, the water content of the alcohol and resin being 0,1-5 parts. By simultaneous reaction is meant either mixing all three reactants at the same time, or premixing the resin and alcohol and then adding the polyisocyanate. Prior to such addition the polyisocyanate may have 0,03-15 parts of ethyl or benzyl cellulose, natural or chlorinated natural rubber, vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate copolymers, polyviniyl acetate, polystyrene, polydichlorostyrene, polymeric acrylare and methacrylate, acrylatemethacrylate, copolymers, and polyvinyl butyral incorporated. Optional ingredients and quaternary ammonium bentonite salts, fillers e.g. metal leafing powders, mica dust, titania, air-float silica and silica aerogel. Lists of suitable reactants are given.
