Abstract
Acetylpyridines are prepared by reacting the corresponding hydroperoxyethylpyridines with a strong acid, specifically sulphuric, perchloric or hydrochloric. 2-Methyl-5-acetylpyridine is prepared in examples from 2-methyl-5-(11-hydroperoxyethylpyridine). Specification 867,488 is referred to.
