Abstract

867,239. Arc rupturing in switches. I-T-E CIRCUIT BREAKER CO. April 21, 1958 [Oct. 9, 1957], No. 12597/58. Class 38 (5). A ceramic arc plate has a shape permitting it to be compression moulded in all steel dies using a mixture of ceramic material having a water content of less than 5%, the plate having a cross-section comprising a thin central portion 20 joined to integral flanges 17, 18 by gradually sloping surfaces. The flanges may extend on one or both sides of the plate and the sloping surfaces may be flat or concave. In the latter case the surface of the central portion and the sloping surfaces form a continuously curved concave surface. Specifications 776,798, 791,613 and 797,412 are referred to.
