Abstract

866,703. Ingot moulds. OGLEBAY NORTON CO. Oct. 5, 1959 [Oct. 8, 1958], No. 33649/59. Class 83 (1). A hot top is provided with a bottom heatprotective ring which is moulded in situ to cover the end of the hot top casing with settable fictile heat-protective material. The ring 18, Fig. 1, may be moulded by hand at the same time as the inner lining of the hot top is being repaired. Alternatively, Fig. 3, the ring 18 is formed integrally and simultaneously with a veneer lining 33 to the hot top by forcing the material into the space between the inner wall of the hot top and a mandrel 36.
