Abstract

A sprayable hair setting or waving preparation comprises a solution of a polymeric N-vinyl lactam in a substantially water-free alcohol and at least one chloro-fluoro-substituted methane or ethane. Preferably the mixture is introduced at low temperature into a sealed container to yield an acrosol preparation, the halogenated hydrocarbon ("Freon"-Registered Trade Mark) acting as propellant. Suitable alcohols are ethyl, propyl and isopropyl alcohol. The polyvinyl lactam preferably contains as little water as possible, e.g. less than 5% by weight. In the example it is polymeric N-vinyl pyrrolidone. Specification 747,806 is referred to.ALSO:A sprayable hair setting or waving preparation comprises a solution of a polymeric N-vinyl lactam in a substantially water-free alcohol and at least one chloro-fluoro-substituted methane or ethane. Preferably the mixture is introduced at low temperature into an aerosol type container from which the halogenated hydrocarbon ("Freon"-Registered Trade Mark) acts as a propellant. Suitable alcohols are ethyl, propyl and iso-propyl alcohols. The polyvinyl lactam preferably contains as little water as possible, i.e. less than 5% by weight.
