Abstract
<PICT:0864765/IV (a)/1> <PICT:0864765/IV (a)/2> In wet-spinning apparatus of the type in which the filaments travel from a spinneret to a thread guide through a spinning tube open at both ends and completely submerged in a coagulating bath, the centre of the spinneret face, the axis of the tube and the point of contact of the filaments with the thread guide being in alignment, the portion of the spinneret holder adjoining the spinneret face is substantially hemispherical in external shape, the inlet of the spinning tube is provided with a cup-shaped mouth into which the spinneret holder extends, and the inner surface of this mouth is hemispherical in shape. This hemisphere has a diameter greater than that of the substantially hemispherical portion of the spinneret holder, and the centre of the latter lies between the centre of the hemispherical interior of the tube mouth and the plane of the junction of this mouth with the inlet end of the tube. The substantially hemispherical portion of the spinneret holder is spaced from the tube mouth inner surface to leave a clearance through which coagulating liquid can flow into the tube. The distance between the centres of the two hemisspherical surfaces is preferably equal to 1/8 to 1/7 of the radius of the inner surface of the cup, and the ratio between the radius of the hemispherical surface of the spinneret holder and that of the inner surface of the cup is preferably about 5 : 8. As shown in Fig. 2, the cup-shaped mouth 8 of the inlet end 5 of a spinning tube has a hemispherical inner surface 9 and into the mouth 8 extends the hemispherical surface 19 of the cap nut 18 of the spinneret holder 10. The cap nut 18 embraces the spinneret 17 and is so far screwed on the externally screw-threaded sleeve 13 surrounding the spinning solution feed pipe 11 that rubber rings 14, 15 and filter cloth 16 are compressed to give a liquid-tight seal between the cap nut and the flange 12 of the pipe 11. The centre of the spherical surface 19 of the cap nut 18 lies between the centre of the spherical surface 9 and the plane of the junction of the tube 5 with the mouth 8. As a result, the distance between the spherical surfaces 9 and 19 decreases in the direction of the tube 5, and turbulence of the coagulating liquid in the space in front of the spinneret 17 is reduced. To fix the correct mutual distance between the spinneret 17 and the junction of the tube 5 with the mouth 8, four spokes 20 (Figs. 2 and 3) are provided on the cap nut 18, the free ends of the spokes co-operating with slots 21, 22, 23 inside the mouth 8. Specifications 655,516 and 784,896 are referred to.
