864,240. Retractive switches. DAIMLERBENZ A.G. Jan. 14, 1960 [Jan. 22, 1959], No. 1414/60. Class 38 (5). [Also in Group XXXI] A horn ring 5, which is disposed above the spokes 2, 3 of the steering-wheel 1 of a motor vehicle, is supported by spokes 6, 7 disposed below the steering wheel spokes and operates a switch element disposed below the wheel hub. The horn ring spokes 6, 7, are located in recesses 9, in the steering-wheel spokes and support the horn-ring upon pins 10 passing through the wheel spokes. The horn-ring is located by a bead 20 which is urged into engagement with a recess 20<SP>1</SP> by a spring 19. The horn switch comprises an insulating ring 21 upon which is mounted three silver contacts 27 and a ring 23 also carrying three silver contacts 30, the rings being separated by springs 25. An annulus 34 engages the upper ring to close one of the contacts upon movement of the horn ring. The hub cap 18 may comprise a foam rubber pad enclosed in leather.
