Abstract

863,963. Thermocouples; two-part couplings. GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATION. July 27, 1959 [July 31, 1968], No. 25661/59. Classes 37 and 38 (1). In a thermocouple, in which the arms 16, 18 are made of aluminium/nickel and chromium/ nickel alloys, connection between the arms and the terminals 50 are made by means of a ball- and socket arrangement, Fig. 1. The thermocouple arms are connected on to washers 20 and 22 on domed studs 30 made of the same material as each arm. Terminals having recesses 56 to fit over the domes 41 are attached to but insulated from a resilient plate 46 which can be screwed down by means of screw 72 to make good contacts. The studs are insulated from the metal casing 24 and each other.
