Abstract

The invention comprises l-1:2-diphenyl-1-dimethylamino-ethane, acid addition salts thereof and their preparation by (a) methylating l-1:2-diphenyl-1-aminoethane which may in turn be prepared by resolution of the racemate; (b) resolution of the racemate of 1:2-diphenyl-1-dimethylaminoethane; (c) hydrogenation of l- 1:2-diphenyl-2- halogeno- 1 -dimethylamino ethane which may in turn be prepared by halogenation of 1:2-diphenyl-2-hydroxy-1-dimethylaminoethane; and (d) methylation of l-1:2-diphenyl-1-methylaminoethane which may in turn be prepared by resolution of the racemate.
