Abstract

The invention comprises inclusion compounds of the formula B.2R.17H2O, where B is methylene chloride, chloroform or carbon tetrachloride, and R is argon, krypton or xenon, and their preparation by bubbling the rare gas under pressure through an emulsion of the halomethane in water containing a small amount of an emulsifying agent, the emulsion being cooled to below the decomposition temperature of the compound at the pressure used but such that the emulsion remains sufficiently mobile to permit bubbling of the gas. A table lists the temperatures at which the decomposition pressure of the compounds is one atmosphere. Specification 862,807 is referred to.
