Abstract
860,248. Railway vehicle brake transmitting arrangements. AMERICAN STEEL FOUNDRIES. Jan. 24, 1958, No. 2446/58. Class 103 (1). In a railway vehicle bogie braking arrangement each wheel and axle assembly 8 and 9 of the bogie is provided with inner, 21, and outer, 28, brake hangers supported at their upper ends by the bogie frame 7 and at their bottom ends pivotally carrying friction brake shoes 24, 32, respectively; the brake shoes and outer brake hanger 28 of each assembly having pivotally connected thereto the lower end of a vertically-disposed live brake lever 36 which is connected to the inner brake hanger 21 of the same assembly by tie straps 42, 42 disposed on opposite sides of the wheel of such assembly while the upper end of each live brake lever 36 is pivotally connected to the inboard end of a dead actuated lever 38, the outboard end of one dead actuating lever 38 being connected by a pull-rod 64 to the outboard end of a dead operating lever 59 and the outboard end of the other dead actuating lever 38 being connected by a pull-rod 52 to the outboard end of a live cylinder lever 49, which is connected at an intermediate point by a pull-rod 54 to an intermediate point of the dead operating lever 59 and which has its inboard end 48 pivotally connected to the movable member 47 of a power cylinder 46 mounted on the bogie frame 7. Included in the pull-rod 54 is a slack adjuster member 57.
