Abstract

857,133. Extruding pellets. BONNAFOUX, P. Jan. 19, 1959, No. 1823/59. Class 87(2). A pellet extrusion machine comprises a power source to which are connected a plurality of rollers 106 and a die 110, having a plurality of orifices 116, rotation of the rollers 106 causing the die 110 to rotate and forcing plastic material through the orifice 116. The rollers 106 are adjustably supported outside the die 110 by bearings 148, 150 and are driven through couplings 164 and gears 48 fromacommon belt-driven shaft 28. The die is surrounded by a stationary casing 124 having a discharge opening 130 and adjustably mounted knives 132 arranged to shear the extruded strands into pellets. Each roller is mounted in a recess formed by a partition plate 70 and the die 110 and the material fed to the machine is evenly distributed to the three recesses by a feeding device comprising a screw 176 discharging to a chamber 190 having a reciprocating base 194 to distribute the material, via adjustable baffles 206 to shoots 92 connected to the recesses. The rollers 106 have scrapers 78.
