Abstract

856,904. Nuclear power plant. ESSO RESEARCH & ENGINEERING CO. Jan. 16, 1959, No. 1666/59. Drawings to Specification. Class 39(4). A method of generating thermal energy comprises detonating a nuclear bomb in an underground cavity to create a heat reservoir, and using the heat reservoir to heat water in the cavity, the hot water being used in any desired manner, for example in a power generating plant.
