A head-support for multi-track magnetic tape-recorders comprises plates m and tubes n forming a sub-assembly carrying, a head represented by its polepieces f and slidable on the pillars of an assembly derived from a wafertype switch. A rotor o, slidable on the switchshaft k, carries a detent q, which engages a spiral cam-track r; rotation of the shaft b, under the control of a click mechanism j raises or lowers the sub-assembly in steps. Tape guide pillars d are attached to the structure and a trimming adjustment is available by slightly rotating the cam by means of a lever e.
