854,813. Automatic adjusting devices for brakes. BENDIX CORPORATION, [formerly BENDIX AVIATION CORPORATION]. March 13, 1958 [March 13, 1957], No. 8138/58. Class 103 (1). An automatic adjuster for a brake (e.g. a spottype disc brake as illustrated) comprises a or a plurality of spring wires 32 having high ourvature portions 38 which are plastically deformable by movement of the friction elements 24 of the brake in excess of a predetermined amount " D "; the spring wires also retaining sufficient elasticity to retract the friction elements by a predetermined amount " D." Instead of two pairs of spring wires 34, each pair being associated with a friction element 24 and connected between the fixed housing 10 and one or other remote end of the friction element; one pair of spring wires may be provided, each spring wire interconnecting the adjacent ends of the oppositely acting friction elements. Specification 688,382 is referred to. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 783,081.
