Abstract

854,103. Packages; internal fittings for boxes. HOOVER, M. M. March 19, 1957, No. 8953/57. Classes 18 and 94(1). A fragile article is enclosed between twists 14, 14a in a flexible tube 11 having its ends secured to rings 13 fitting into the ends of a supporting shell 10 and seating on ridges 12. The lower ring is first secured to the shell by a staple 17, the twist 14a is formed and secured by a ring 20 and the ring 13 is then inserted in the upper end of the shell and rotated after the introduction of the article to form the upper twist 14. The twisting operation forms tensioned conical diaphragms 15 above and below the twists so that the article is supported clear of the shell. The upper ring is then secured to the shell by a staple 18 and the ends of the shell are closed by caps 16 held in position by adhesive tapes 19. Specification 751,676 is referred to.
