Class 52(2) A ship's berth I or the like pivoted about a horizontal axis 2 so that it can be swung up to vertical position is urged to the vertical position by springs 15, 16 and a further spring 17 passes through a dead centre position so that it assists springs 15, 16 as the berth is near the vertical position and opposes them as it is near the horizontal position. The berth has abutments 8 co-operating with adjustable stops 10 to define the horizontal position.
