850,545. Photographic cameras. LEITZ G.m.b.H., E. Feb. 17, 1958 [Feb. 21, 1957; Sept. 19, 1957], No. 5048/58. Classes 97(1) and 98(1) An objective housing for a photographic camera comprises focusing setting means and aperture setting means, a common setting member being provided for individually operating both the focusing and the aperture setting means. As shown, rotation of a pivoted lever 17 in the direction of the arrow causes the toothed part 19 to mesh with a gear 21 on the periphery of a tube 22 to move the tube 22 axially of the objective; this motion is transmitted in suitable 'ratio - by means of a differential worm - to an inner tube 29 fast with the lens to effect focusing. Whilst the lever 17 is held relative to its pivot 18 in the position corresponding to the required focus, rotation of the lever about the objective axis rotates a ring 7 which - if linked to a further link 6 by a latch 5 - sets a diaphragm ring 15 by means of a pin 8 of the ring 6 engaging a further ring 9 which links with a sleeve 12 connected to a ring 13 which meshes with the diaphragm ring 15. In a further embodiment, a manually rotatable sleeve coaxial with the lens axis is normally spring urged against an aperture setting ring for adjustment thereof, but is axially movable to link with a coaxial focusing ring, for adjustment of focus; alternatively, a lever is provided which in rest position is spring urged against the aperture setting ring, but which is rockable about an axis normal to the lens axis to engage a focusing ring; adjustment of either member being effected by rotation of the lever about the lens axis. In a final embodiment, the lever has a longitudinal extension which engages an axially displaceable collar such that pivoting of the lever causes the collar to link with either the aperture or the focusing setting ring.
