Abstract

850,245. Casting-machines. SOC. CIVILE D'ETUDES DE CENTRIFUGATION. Sept. 3, 1958 [Sept. 4, 1957], No. 28311/58. Class 83 (1). A centrifugally and continuously-cast casting is cooled simultaneously by the mould, against which it is centrifuged, and by an internal fluidcooled hollow mandrel. The mandrel 22 is cooled by an air-water-emulsion, and is mounted in bearings 18, 19, so that it may rotate with the casting and be reciprocated vertically by a cam 14, so designed that the mandrel descends at the same speed as the continuously-withdrawn casting. On its return movement, the mandrel rolls the internal surface of the casting. The mould 1, cooled by jets 10, is mounted in bearings 4, 5 and is rotated by gearing 7, 8.
