Abstract
849,054. Measuring temperatures. FOX. BORO CO. Nov. 19, 1958 [Dec. 6, 1951], No. 17266/58. Class 40 (1). A fast response resistance thermometer specially adapted for use at high pressures cons prises a dome shaped bulb cap, preferably of thin stainless steel, with a spiral bifilar resistance wire coil cemented, by an aluminium oxide base ceramic cement, in good heat conducting relation to the inner surface. As shown, Fig. III, a dome-shaped cap 15 is fitted on the end of plug 11, leads to resistance element 16 being taken through a subsidiary safety pressure seal 19 by ceramic insulators 18. In a modification, Fig. V, a stainless steel pressure resistant dome-shaped cap 26 is attached to a body 23 fitted, e.g. in a process pipe 21. The resistance element is attached to a second thinner high heat conductivity but non-pressure resistant bulb 28 attached to a removable plug 29 the leads to the element again being brought out through a safety pressure seal 30.
