A pneumatically tyred wheel 21 is ornamented by an annular resilient moulded rubber or like tyre trim 20 having an outer wall 201, conforming to the tyre sidewall, and an inner peripheral bead 200 grooved to embrace the lip 22 of the wheel rim 23, and by an annular wheel trim 26, of greater outer diameter than the wheel rim, which is secured to the wheel by spring clips 27 formed to grip said rim lip 22 and urge the wheel trim axially inwardly, the outer periphery of the wheel trim engaging the tyre trim 20 to hold it in position against the tyre sidewall. As shown the tyre trim 20 is moulded to the shape shown in Fig. 9 with a circular wire 203 reinforcing the bead 200. The bead 200 has an axially inner rim lip engaging groove 202, an axially and radially outer groove 204 to receive the outer peripheral edge or flange 260 of the wheel trim, and circumferentially spaced pockets 205 and notches 206 in its axially inner face to expose the wire 203. The wire 203 is subsequently square-looped at 2030 in the pockets 205 and kinked in the notches 206 to deform the trim so that its wall portion 201 extends axially inwardly as shown in Fig. 11 for more resilient conformation with the tyre sidewall. The wheel trim 26 shown comprises a plated, painted, or stainless steel ring to cover the wheel rim 23, but may be a full wheel cover disc. The outer periphery of the trim ring 26 is beaded and bent axially inwardly to engage the tyre trim groove 204, and the radially inner portion of the ring 26 is inclined axially inwardly and terminates in a radially outwardly facing inner peripheral channel 2600 to receive the bead-rolled radially inner edges 54 of the securing clips 27. The clips 27 are each of spring steel strip angularly bent as shown at 530 in Fig. 4 intermediate its ends 54, 52, the outer end 52 being first return bent at 521 and the reverse-looped to provide the rim lip engaging hook portion 520. In use, the clips 27 are hooked on to the wheel rim lip 22 at uniformly spaced intervals and the tyre trim 20 is then manipulated to engage the square loops 2030 of its bead wire 203 over the leg 53 of each clip and its groove 202 over the rim lip 22. With the clips 27 extending axially outwardly the ends 54 thereof are engaged in the channel 2600 of the wheel trim 26 and the trim is then pressed axially inwardly. The clips exert an over centre action to urge the assembly into its operative position.
