A spring clip for bar-type spanners 14 comprises a multiturn helical torsion spring 10 with oppositely directed tangential end arms 11 having right angularly or otherwise transversely disposed end portions 12 which are oppositely directed and have short upturned extremities 13. As shown, the clip is made from a single length of spring wire.
