Abstract
847,711. Cathode-ray oscilloscopes. TAYLOR ENGINEERING Inc. April 8, 1958 [April 15, 1957], No. 11016/58. Class 40(7). [Also in Group XXXVI] A method of testing a number of different electric circuits of the same equipment comprises applying a voltage to the first circuit so as to produce a signal response, rendering the signal response visible, and superimposing the visible signal response on a visible representation of a standard response and observing any deviations of the signal response from the representation and repeating the procedure for each different circuit using a different representation for each circuit. Preferably the signal response is rendered visible by displaying it on the screen of a cathode ray tube and the representation is projected from a film strip. Fig. 3 shows a suitable arrangement for projecting a representation of the standard response from a film 18 on to a semi-transparent mirror 20 through which the response of a CRT is observed. To provide a permanent record of the test a camera 24 may be located as shown to photograph the images. The film strip may also carry indicia to indicate to the operator the necessary settings required on the equipment to obtain the required response. Alternatively the indicia on the film may automatically set the equipment to produce the required response.
