Abstract

847,398. Hectographic transfer paper. RUBEN, G. E. F. Sept. 16, 1957, No. 29067/57. Class 96. A hectographic transfer sheet has an ink layer (preferably waxy) containing a coloured substance which is soluble in the duplicating liquid (e.g. alcohol or an alcohol-water mixture) and which contains at least one chemical element with an atomic weight of at least 52. Coloured substances specified are modifications of rhodamine containing iodine and/or chromium; copper ethyl acetoacetate; copper phenol sulphonate; ferric-2,4-pentanedione; nickel dimethylglyoxime; nickel benzene sulphonate ; nickel iodide; cobalt linoleate; cobalt oleate; cobalt propionate; ammonium phosphotungstate (if desired in admixture with another colouring substance). General mention is also made of compounds, e.g. iodides, acetoacetates, phenolsulphonates, pentanediones, dimethyl glyoximes, benzene-sulphonates, linoleates, oleates, ricinoleates, lactates, malonates, propionates, or butyrates of barium, strontium, silver, manganese, molybdenum, tungsten, iron, nickel, cobalt, copper cadmium, selenium or tellurium. A minor quantity (not exceeding 20%) of a non-volatile aid material, soluble in the duplicating liquid, e.g. ethylene glycol monophenylether, or dimethylphthalate may be included in the ink layer. Preferably this aid material is a solvent for the wax or oil of the ink layer. Aid materials miscible with e.g. carnauba wax but not with mineral oils are octylene glycol, benzyl alcohol or methyl-pbenzylalcohol.
