Abstract

847,316. Binoculars. HENSOLDT & SOHNE, OPTISCHE-WERKE A. G., M. June 30,1958 [July 2, 1957], No. 20824/58. Class 97(1) Binoculars comprise two mirror carriers, each supporting four mirrors arranged in the form of a Porro prism of the second type and having borings enclosing the path of the light rays, each carrier being mounted in a support, having at least one plane surface perpendicular to the optical axes, each mirror carrier being displaceable along said plane, the objectives and eyepieces being screwed into said supports. In the binoculars shown four mirrors 5-8 are held on a carrier 4 by means of a rubber band placed round two pins 13, 14. The carrier 4 is held on the plane surface 22 of a support 15a, 15b, 15c, by three screws 24 (only 1 is shown) which engage projections 23 of the carrier. When these screws are loosened, the mirror carrier may be moved over surface 22 by means of (a) pivots 14, 26 in borings 27, 25 controlled by pin 13, (b) rotary ring 30 on support 15a and pin 31 (Fig. 3) or (c) slits 40 in the support and pins 42 (Fig. 4) in the mirror carrier. The objectives and eyepieces are screwed into the support 15 and held against rims 21, 19. The support is surrounded by a housing 50, 51 fastened thereon by screws 52 the heads 53 of which may be used to secure the carrying strap.
