Abstract

847,287. Laminates. GRANTHAM RUBBER MACHINERY CO. Ltd. Jan. 26, 1959 [Jan. 24, 1958], No. 2393/58. Class 140. [Also in Group XXXIV] Annular laminated articles of rubber or the like, particularly tyres, are tested to reveal areas of delamination by subjecting them to an infra-red heat source located substantially at the centre of each article whereby entrapped air or moisture produces deformation in the defective areas. As shown, tyres 13 are stacked on a support 1 around a central source of infra-red comprising pillars 3 supporting a cylindrical reflector 2 and heating elements 8 connected by leads 9 to a device 10 for timing the treatment. The tyres 13 may be held open by spacers 15.
