Abstract

846,272. Stereoscopic photography. KODAK Ltd. Oct. 23, 1956 [Oct. 24, 1955], No. 32347/56. Class 98(2) An attachment having means for covering either objective of a stereo-camera and a recticle having range markings for sighting the camera on the centre of the subject to be photographed is used for obtaining close-up stereo-photographs by means of two successive exposures, using a different objective for each exposure. The tilt of the camera about a vertical axis is changed between the exposures to ensure correct convergence of the objective axes and distortion due to excessive length of the stereo base can be eliminated by moving the camera transversely between the exposures. As shown, sighting marks for controlling the camera tilt are arranged on a reticle 26 and numbered according to the range. The reticle is carried on a plate 16 having part 20 to prevent light from entering one objective 12 and a supplementary lens 23 for the other objective 12. Between the exposures the plate is turned through 180 degrees in its plane. A camera support 30 is provided for correcting the length of the stereo-base and has end pieces 33 one of which locates the camera at one exposure position and the other at the other exposure position. Base 31 has hole 32 for attachment of the support to a tripod or the like. The optical axis of lens 23 is arranged to be parallel to that of each camera objective but may be displaced inwardly thereof.
