Class 117 [Also in Group XXX] A carrier 30 has the apertures 49 thereof each filled with an article 18 for transfer to a moulding die, the act of filling being done by means of tumbling drum 20 or 21, the articles being contained in the drum and the said carrier 30 forming a detachable side thereof and the rotation of the drum causing the articles to fall into and to be retained in said apertures. The action is assisted by air pressure, the air from blower -39 passing via pipes 24, 25 and hollow axes 31 into the drums and out through the apertures. The carrier is removed when full of articles. Sorting articles. If a mixture of articles of two sizes is to be sorted, the mixture is fed into drum 20 and a carrier 30 is secured to the drum, the carrier having apertures corresponding to the first size of article. The drum is rotated andair is passed thereinto so that the carrier when removed carries away a proportion of the articles of the first size. Repetition leaves the drum containing only the article of second size.
