843,630. Gear-grinding. ZAHNSCHNEIDEMASCHINENFABRIK MODUL VEB. Nov. 2, 1956, No. 33583/56. Class 83 (3). [Also in Group XXIII] A gear-grinding hob for hobbing a gear generated with a normal pressure-angle, e.g. 20 degrees, comprises a tooth profile having a low pressure-angle, e.g. 11 degrees. The gear may be rotated in synchronism with the hob for part of an operation and then allowed to rotate freely. The hob-shape results in more teeth being in contact with those of the gear than if the normal pressure-angle is used.
