The invention comprises 1-bromo-4:5:6:7:10: 10 - hexachloro - 4 : 7 - endomethylene - 4 : 7 : 8 : 9 - tetrahydrophthalan and its preparation by reacting 4 : 5 : 6 : 7 : 10 : 10 - hexachloro - 4 : 7 - endomethylene-4:7:8:9-tetrahydrophthalan with a brominating agent such as bromine or N-bromo succinimide.
