Abstract
842,301. Automatic exchange systems. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. June 27, 1958 [June 28, 1957], No. 20701/58. Class 40 (4). In a magnetic coding apparatus magnetic cores 9, Fig. 3, are mounted on parallel strips 3 provided with an aperture for each core and an aperture 11 adjacent each core (which apertures may be combined into a single elongated aperture as shown in Fig. 2) so that a coding wire may be threaded through said apertures so as to pass through the cores or not according to the required code. The strips may be movable longitudinally to one or other of two extreme positions as determined by the leaf spring 13, whereby the apertures may be lined up according to the required code and the code wire then passed through the desired apertures by means such as a straight needle. A common read-out winding 17 is provided for all the cores mounted on a single strip. The apparatus may be used in a code translator or a calling line identification system.
