Abstract

842,102. Making pads. TITEFLEX Inc. Nov. 19, 1956 [Dec. 6, 1955], No. 35331/56. Class 83 (2). [Also in Groups XXV and XXXVI] A resilient insert for a tube clamp 11 (see Group XXV), comprises a wire mesh pad 13 having tapered ends 15 and tabs 14; the pad is formed from a flattened knitted cylinder which is folded, Figs. 4-6, not shown, and wrapped around the post 27 of a press, the post having a radial blade 28 for separating the ends of the pad. A punch 33 is lowered over post 27, a slot 34 receiving the blade 28, and the pad is compressed between the punch 33 and a sleeve 31 in a die 26, the punch and sleeve having ears 35, 32 to form the tabs 14 and ends 15. After compressing, a push-rod 37 raises sleeve 31 to push the pad from the post 27. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 765,278.
