Abstract

840,724. Motor cycle fuel containers. NORTON MOTORS Ltd. Aug. 6, 1957 [Aug. 4, 1956], No. 24095/56. Class 79(3). A motor cycle fuel tank 10 built of pressed steel independently of the frame has separate panels 11 of conforming shape secured to its sides by screws 12 or equivalent fastening means. The screws engage in sockets 14 in the sides of the tank. The panels may be countersunk to receive the screws and have recesses 20 carrying a badge or name plate 19. The panels are primarily decorative and are plated, but may carry knee-grips 18. Their edges 15 are flanged and carry sealing strips 16 to form a smooth joint against the tank. Specification 759,992 is referred to.
