Abstract

839,807. Photo-electric control of photographic exposure. GOSSEN & CO. G.m.b.H., P. June 18, 1958 [Jan. 25, 1958], No. 19503/58. Class 40 (3). The effective lens aperture, e.g. of a cinecamera, is determined by the intersection of slots 4a, 5a in a pair of flat members, one of which is secured to the moving coil of a photoelectric exposure meter, the other being driven by the first, e.g. by a pin-and-slot coupling. Alternative slot arrangements are illustrated in Figs. 2 and 3 (not shown). In the cine-camera shown, the effective aperture may be controlled manually by means of a rotary disc provided with holes corresponding to the stop desired. When this disc is moved away from its normal position with the largest hole aligned with the lens, it operates contact-springs to shunt out the photo-electric system. The meter has a transparent dial and its readings or readings indicative of the position of the manually-set disc, the peripheral portion of which is left transparent, can be seen through the viewfinder.
